Today we landed in Madrid, and the first sensation we had as we stepped off the plane was the chilly breeze.

We drove for two hours to the town of Zamora, where we met Señor Mario’s sister and brother-in-law.

We were pleasantly surprised with a generous lunch that included homemade pizza, empanada, tortilla de patata, salad, lasagna, chorizo, tiramisu, fruit dessert, and apple tart.

Next, we had a session at the public library in Zamora, where we explained our project and process to our supporters from Spain and answered any questions they had.

Afterward, we drove to the village of Sanabria, where we met Señor Mario’s mother and had dinner at her home.

We then went to our hotel to end the day, finally able to lie down on a lovely, warm bed.

The experience of the day was amazing—the views in Zamora were mesmerizing, and the atmosphere of Sanabria is something I will always remember.

The people here have been incredibly welcoming and warm, making it feel just like home.
